The smell of fermented hops is long gone, but the old Carlsberg brewery’s former industrial ground is lively in a way not seen in decades. Right in the middle of Copenhagen, a new city district is being built.
If you want to understand more about the process of creating a new city district, from understanding the context, designing the structural plan, and ultimately implementing urban life, please join us for a walk & talk through “Carlsberg Byen”. Our guide will be Partner and Creative Director at BRIQ, Peter Bur Andersen, who has been assigned to design, develop and implement the strategies for the urban fabric.
Bringing character to a neighborhood is no easy task. Since 2017 the Danish design agency, BRIQ, has been engaged in projects in Copenhagen’s Carlsberg City District, a former industrial area built around the brewery’s iconic old headquarters. BRIQ has transformed it into a buzzy residential neighborhood, where historic buildings sit happily next to modern blocks and towers.
